Desiccant Dehumidifiers:  How Do They Work?
Usually the home and commercial dehumidifiers work by condensing the excess water from the air; whereas the desiccant dehumidifier absorbs the moisture out of the air into a desiccant medium.  Generally, the desiccant material is crystal, although there are liquid desiccants. (26th June 2006)

Cool Mist Humidifier:
The EPA have issued various guidelines relating to humidifying and dehumidifying appliances.  For best comfort and health, the relative humidity should be between 30 and 50 percent. Cool mist humidifiers, which are sometimes referred to as evaporative humidifiers, are valid products that achieve these levels.
